DESCRIPTION:The Historical Society of the Nyacks is proud to focus on the History of Jazz in Nyack from the early 1920s to the Golden Years of The Office in the 1970’s through to the present. Our panels include wonderful graphics and intriguing text covering the people\, their accomplishments\, and the environment of Nyack\, which plays a big role in developing young talent. This exhibit is fun for all – the Jazz enthusiast\, the Jazz newcomer\, and for all those who find it fascinating that pre-schoolers discover their passion and are “hooked.” The exhibit is open every Saturday from 1 pm to 4 pm

SUMMARY:Women's Precious Power (Women's Circle)
DESCRIPTION:Women embody felt wisdom and spontaneous nurturance. From this comes their power to generate peace and healing. However\, women often give this to others and neglect ourselves. This monthly group\, offering experiential exercises of mindfulness\, sensory awareness\, movement\, and sitting in circle\, will guide us to rest in\, to listen to\, and to derive strength from each other’s precious power. We will explore our masculine as well as feminine energies. This group will give participants an opportunity to deeply relax and nourish essential self-care skills\, providing space to support and cultivate compassionate activity for oneself and others. In nurturing our sacred ground of embodied presence and power\, we will enable ourselves to wisely choose our offerings of presence and power to our world. Led by Joan Whitacre.

SUMMARY:Musical Performance & Meditation: The Piermont Present Moment Kirtan Band
DESCRIPTION:The Piermont Present Moment Kirtan Band combines singing\, instruments\, chanting and mediation into one beautiful experience. \nDoug Puder leads the band with his bass voice. Those attending can listen quietly or sing with Jodi Piester (soprano)\, Carol Napier and MaryAnn Sawka (alto)\, and Roy Sokoloski (bass) as they sing response. Instruments include harmonium\, guitar\, and drum. We feel we a new genre is emerging which combines modern songs and melodies with ancient mantras. The music often has a spiritual effect but is not religious. Our modern kirtan makes meditative call and response singing or chanting more accessible for many of us.

The daughter of one of Novosibirsk’s great tenors\, she carries on a family tradition of vocal excellence and operatic style of a bygone era\, combined with the latest trends of artistic development. \nMore about The Parlour\nThe Parlour is a local venue that facilitates regular gatherings for women and gender non-coforming individuals to come together regulary and share a artistic & culinary experiences\, together. To make this work\, we are hoping for the active engagement of women within the community who will assume roles as hosts and performers\, creating a distinctive space for self-expression amid a community of like-minded individuals. The quarterly events at The Parlour\, hosted by Jo Berry – your very own local “salonniere” –  feature pop-ups\, engaging performances\, discussions\, readings\, and tarot nights\, are complemented by the culinary finesse of BerryGoodEats. Owned by Jo Berry herself\, BerryGoodEats provides an catering experience to each event\, offering a curated selection of dishes and delightful treats.
